A New Direction

Over the years staff at the Big Issue Scotland Foundation had become increasingly aware that many of the difficulties experienced by vulnerable adults could be traced back to trauma and difficulties in the care they received in their early years. Following a review of our work an entirely new and radical direction based on a preventative approach was agreed by the Trustees. In October 2008 this new approach was launched through the "With Kids” project.

The project works with children and families providing early intervention using a range of psychological, social and economic strategies. Through this we aim to address some of the underlying issues which lead to homelessness, offending, violence, self harm, drug and alcohol misuse in adult life.
